The new Twos is a rebuilt app. Here is what you get, and what works differently from the original.

Why you'd care

If you used the original Twos for years, most of your habits still work. A handful of things moved, and a lot of things are new. Knowing which is which saves a confusing first week.

New in Twos

There is a lot. These are the highlights, and there is more beyond them.

Everywhere you are

  • A faster app, everywhere. Twos was rebuilt from the ground up on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and the web. The desktop app is now on the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store. See desktop.
  • Your wrist. An Apple Watch app and a Wear OS app.
  • Your browser. The browser extension now runs on Safari and Firefox as well as Chrome and Edge.
  • Widgets, Siri and sharing. New home screen widgets, new Siri and Shortcuts actions, and an improved share extension. See widgets, Siri and Shortcuts and the share sheet.

Writing and things

  • Rich text. Bold, italics, headings, text colour, and code and quote blocks. See formatting and colour, code and quotes.
  • Notes on a thing. Longer writing that sits under a thing without cluttering the list. See notes.
  • Mentions and backlinks. Link things and lists to each other, and see what links back. See mentions.
  • The Capture view. A full-screen place to write without seeing a list. See the Capture view.

Lists

  • Sort and tag your lists. Order the Lists view however you like, and tag lists to group them. See the Lists view.
  • Dynamic lists. Lists that fill themselves from a tag. See dynamic lists.

What works differently

  • Carry-over no longer asks. The original app asked before moving unfinished to-dos. The new one moves them automatically, unless you turned that off before.
  • Checkboxes are square. The original app used circles. Circles are one setting away.
  • Siri actions are new. Shortcuts you built with the original app's Siri actions need to be rebuilt with the new ones.
  • Widgets need iOS 17. The new home screen widgets run on iOS 17 and later.
