Everywhere you are
Things 3
Things 3 has no export button, so Twos reads the database file Things 3 keeps on your Mac. The file is read on your device.
Before you start
- 1
Quit Things 3
So every recent change is saved into the file.
- 2
Find the database
In Finder, choose Go, then Go to Folder, and paste
~/Library/Group Containers/JLMPQHK86H.com.culturedcode.ThingsMac. Open theThingsDatafolder, thenThings Database.thingsdatabase, and copymain.sqliteto your Desktop. - 3
Import it
Choose that file in Settings Integrations Things 3.
What comes across
- Projects and areas each become a list. To-dos in no project or area go into Inbox, Anytime and Someday lists.
- Headings inside a project become headings.
- Checklists become to-dos indented under their task, done items done.
- Tags become tags, and notes become the thing's note.
- A reminder time, deadline or scheduled date that is still ahead becomes a reminder.
Tips
- If the import looks older than your Things 3, the app was probably still open when you copied the file. Quit it and copy
main.sqliteagain. - After importing, let carry-over handle what used to be Today. See carry-over.
