Everywhere you are
Instapaper
Articles you save in Instapaper can come into Twos, one list per Instapaper folder and one thing per article, with your highlights underneath each one.
There are two ways to do it. Connecting your account keeps it up to date on its own. The CSV import is a one-time copy that needs no sign-in.
Connect your account
- Open Settings Integrations Instapaper.
- Enter the email address and password you use for Instapaper, and choose Connect.
- Choose Sync now for the first import, or leave it and the first sync happens within the hour.
After that, new articles arrive on their own about once an hour.
What comes across
Each article becomes a thing with its title and link, dated the day you saved it. Instapaper's description for it lands in the thing's note, any Instapaper tags come across as tags, and your highlights on it become things indented underneath, each with its own note if you wrote one.
Folders become lists:
| Instapaper folder | Twos list |
|---|---|
| Unread (Home) | Instapaper |
| Archive | Instapaper Archive |
| Starred | Instapaper Starred |
| A folder you made | Its own name |
A starred article also sits in Unread or Archive, so it arrives in two lists. If you would rather not have it twice, delete the Instapaper Starred list: a list you delete is never rebuilt, which is also how you skip any folder you don't want.
Re-syncing
Re-syncing is safe. Articles are matched by their link and highlights by their Instapaper id, so a later sync adds only what is new, even if you have edited the text in Twos.
Import a CSV export instead
If you would rather not connect your account, Instapaper can export your saved articles and Twos can read that file.
- Sign in to instapaper.com and open your settings.
- Under Export, choose Download .CSV file.
- Open Settings Integrations Instapaper, choose Choose Instapaper CSV, and pick the file.
You will see a preview of every folder and how many articles it holds. Uncheck any folder you do not want, then confirm. Nothing is created until you approve.
The export has no highlights in it, and it is a one-time copy rather than an ongoing sync. It is only offered on instapaper.com, so this route needs a computer.
Readwise
Readwise can also sync your Instapaper highlights, along with everything else you read. If you already use it, connecting Readwise brings those highlights in too. See Readwise.
