The Wear OS app is the Android counterpart to the Apple Watch app, built for the same job: writing a thing down and putting your arm back down.

Before you start

It ships inside the same Google Play listing as the phone app, so there is no separate install if you already have Twos on your phone. Sign in on the phone first. The watch takes your account from the paired phone rather than asking you to type a password on a watch face.

If the watch says to open Twos on your phone and sign in, that handoff has not happened yet. Open the phone app once with both devices connected.

What it does

Capture, by voice or by the watch keyboard.

Today, so you can see what is on your day and check things off from your wrist.

Lists, including a search, so you can open a specific list without the phone.

A tile and a complication. The tile shows how many things are still open today with a chip to jump in. The complication puts that same count on your watch face, and tapping it opens Today.

What it does not do

Like the Watch app, this is a design decision rather than a gap. A watch app that tried to be the whole product would be worse at the one thing a watch is genuinely good at.

Going further

It works away from your phone. Lists you have opened are cached on the watch, and anything you write or check off while disconnected is queued and sent when the watch is back on a network. You do not have to wait for the phone.

Today is keyed by the day. What you see is the same day list you would see on the phone, not a separate wrist inbox.

Voice is the input worth using. The watch keyboard works, and dictating is faster every time.

Tips

  • Use it for capture and check-off. Reading and organizing are phone jobs.
  • Put the complication on the watch face you actually wear. An app you have to go looking for is one you will not open.
  • One sentence per capture. Anything longer is better dictated to the phone with Ramble.

If it's not working

It asks me to sign in on my phone. The credential handoff runs from the phone app. Open Twos on the phone with the watch connected, then reopen the watch app.

The tile count is stale. The tile refreshes on a timer rather than instantly. Opening the app updates it.
