App icons
Settings Appearance & accessibility App icon changes the icon on your home screen. Plus

Going further
Keep it quiet. In the Capture view it sits behind what you write. A busy wallpaper costs legibility continuously and buys novelty once.
Days and lists have their own backgrounds. The wallpaper does not reach them. To change how a day or a list looks, set its background or cover photo. See dressing up a day.
Settings that change this

- Settings Appearance & accessibility App icon the home screen icon. Plus
Tips
- Use a photo you like at very low contrast. Anything with detail behind text is a mistake you will notice for weeks.
