Time zones

Keep other cities on screen next to your own clock, so you never have to work out what time it is somewhere else.

Why you'd care

If family lives abroad or your team is spread across the world, every call starts with the same sum. What time is 3pm for them, and are they still awake? Extra time zones do that sum for you in the places you plan: the calendar, the timeline, and the reminder you are about to set.

The 60-second version

  1. 1
  2. 2

    Add a zone

Tap Add time zone and search for a city, a region, or an abbreviation like "pst". You can add up to two.

  3. 3

    Look at your calendar

The day, 3-day and week views now show an hour column for each zone, to the left of your own.

Going further

Your own zone always follows your device. It is shown at the top of the screen for reference, but you cannot change it. Travel somewhere new and your own zone moves with you, while your extra zones stay put.

Rename, reorder, remove. A zone is labelled with its city by default. Rename it to something more useful, like a person's name or "Office". The order you set is the order the columns appear in.

Calendar columns. In the Calendar view, each extra zone gets its own hour column. The corner above the columns shows a short label for each one, and tapping it opens the setting. On today, the current time shows in every zone column, so you can see at a glance what time it is for them right now. When a zone has already crossed midnight, a small weekday tag marks where its day changes.

The side panel timeline. On a big screen, the timeline in the side panel and the tablet timeline get the same columns. See on a big screen.

Reminders show the time elsewhere. When you set a reminder with a time, an "Also" line underneath shows that moment in each of your zones. The same line appears under the reminder in thing info, and when you hover an event in the calendar on the web.

Enter a time in another zone. The reminder picker has a "Time in" switcher next to the start time. Pick London and type 3:00 PM, and the reminder is saved for 3pm London time, whatever that is for you. It goes back to your own zone every time you open the picker, so you never get stuck in another zone by accident.

Chat knows your zones. Ask Chat "what time is it in Tokyo" or "when is my 3pm in London" and it answers using the zones you added.

Month view has no hour column, so extra zones do not appear there.

Tips

  • Name a zone after the person who lives there. "Mum" is quicker to read than "Sydney".
  • Put the zone you check most often first, so it sits closest to your own hours.
  • Use "Time in" when someone gives you a time in their zone. Typing it as they said it is safer than converting in your head.
  • Half-hour and 45-minute zones like India and Nepal are shown exactly, not rounded.

If it's not working

The time looks an hour off. One of the two places has probably changed to or from daylight saving time and the other has not yet. The calendar works out each zone for the day you are looking at, so a week that crosses a change is correct on both sides of it.

My own zone is wrong. Your own zone comes from your device. Check the date and time settings on your phone or computer, then reopen Twos.

I cannot add a third zone. Two is the limit, so the week view still fits on a phone. Remove one to add another.

The columns are missing. They only appear in the day, 3-day and week views and the timeline. Month view has no hour column.
