Why you'd care
The usual case is work and personal. Separate accounts mean separate days, separate lists and separate search, so work material never appears while you are looking for something at home.
The 60-second version
Add a second account in settings, then switch with ⌘', which cycles through them.
Going further
Nothing is shared between accounts. Separate things, lists, tags, streaks and settings. That is the point.
But you can hand something over. Two transfer actions move content from the account you are in to another one you are signed into:

A thing goes to the other account's today, resolved in their own time zone rather than yours. A list transfer takes the list, its things and its reminders with it.
Both are a move, not a copy: what you transfer leaves the account you sent it from. If you want it in both places, share it instead.
The row is visible on any account you own, and the picker offers to add an account if you have not signed into a second one yet.
A shared list is the other bridge. If both accounts genuinely need something on an ongoing basis, collaborate between them rather than transferring back and forth. See collaborate on a list.
Plus is per account. Subscribing on one account does not make the other Plus.
Consider whether you need it. Two accounts is real overhead: two subscriptions, two sets of settings, and the daily cost of being in the wrong one. A tag or a separate list solves the same problem for many people.
Tips
- Give each account a different colour theme. It is the fastest way to know which one you are in.
- Learn the switch shortcut. Without it, switching is slow enough that you will stop bothering.
