My first thought is that LLMs don't have an ego, so this style of "learning" works well for them. When reading about advancements in AI, my mind always wanders to the future of work. Work is not just how we humans pay for our food and supplies. It is also how we define ourselves. This is literally true. Consider that our last names often originated from our role (job) or our skill. For example, is your last name Baker? If so, that was once your family's identity; they were bakers. I bring this up in relation to this paper because one of the challenges that we will face as a people soon is how to learn new skills. If it were only about learning new skills, perhaps we would be okay, but we also need to be motivated, and we need to learn a new way of learning. With an LLM, the authors of this paper could instruct it to perform the exercises, but with humans, it isn't that straightforward. However, there is still time to consider how to take a paper like this and find a creative way to inspire people of all ages to learn new things.
