Notes • August 11, 2025by johnataylor on TwosFun Fact: On August 11, 1992, the Mall of America opened its doors in Bloomington, Minnesota. At the time, it was the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the United States and quickly became one of the top tourist destinations in the country. The opening day saw 330 stores welcoming customers and more than 10,000 employees starting work for the first time. The Mall was built on the site of the former Metropolitan Stadium, once home to the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Because my wife and I lived in that area of Minnesota in 1992, we were there with our 4 little girls on opening day.
