His entire life was in all those notebooks. That day he realized that as he wrote his life down, everything was scheduled. There's nothing bad planning part of one's life, but Life is much more than that, its experimenting, being lost sometimes, taking risks etc. It's what makes life worth living and he hadn't live his life, he just survived.
