- Evil exists in the world because without it, we have no concept of what is good. Before Adam and Eve sinned, they didn't really have a concept of good vs evil, but rather just the knowledge of what is, and the one thing they ought not to do. Once Satan convinced them to do that thing, of course their eyes were opened. They realized that by eating that fruit, they had gone against God's will, and separated themselves from him, thus showing them the divide between good and evil. Good=alignment with God's will and closeness to him. Evil=separation from God and his will.
