Article. ===. Gen Z is turning personal planning into a visual art form.. The Notion app, launched in 2016 as a digital workspace for organizing work and personal life. Think of it like building a website, but for mainly personal use.. A 23-year-old TikToker named Sija Los posted a six-second video in July showcasing some of her personal to-do lists—“Morning Routine,” “Night Routine,” “Weekly Zero-Out.” That post received almost a million views and garnered breathless comments such as “absolutely amazing,” and “Omg yes.”. Today, the hashtag #Notion has more than 485 million views on TikTok, with most posts coming from fans rather than influencers.. The app is currently used by 20 million people around the globe, Notion said.. While Notion markets itself as enterprise software for team-project management, its appeal with younger students and professionals goes beyond the workplace.. That is because the designs people create can be shared—or sold—as templates for others to put their own spin on.. If you decide to try the app—and you’re not a seasoned designer or website builder—you might feel overwhelmed by the lack of structure.. Pages can function like a Word document, spreadsheet or a file-storage system.. Free tier lets you share pages with up to five guests.. While Notion can be useful for planning and productivity, don’t let it consume too much time.. The compulsion to track everything made her feel burned out.. ===. Comments:. Does it integrate with your calendar? Otherwise you would need to double enter appointments which is a non-starter. Or is this for people who have no jobs or calendars?. I wish these reviews would cover data security, at least in passing. This “app“ appears to be a front end for an online storage service, meaning that your data gets stored on servers somewhere, not on your local computer. This is an obvious security problem that the review does not mention.. I’ve been looking for an app like this for years! I don’t want anything tricky or complicated. I just want to save favorites. Maybe it’s a favorite wine or airline to Asia.. I've used the app for the past year and it's mostly ok with some cool features. Another app that promotes more organizing. I hope it promotes DOING. Pretty checklists are delightful, but they don't get the laundry done or a phone call made.. I am advocating avoiding using organizational tools as a procrastination method. It's easy to think one is being productive by working on being organized. And sparkly tools can contribute to that.
