I rarely recognize myself anymore, inside or out. Chronic illness has eroded the person I once knew. Surgery was supposed to mark a turning point, but instead it only underscored how fragile and unpredictable this body has become. Healing has not been linear. It has demanded patience I don’t have and more endurance than I can offer. What weighs heaviest on me is the relentlessness of the symptoms. They grind into every part of who I am. Fatigue is not simple tiredness, it is a total depletion, physical, emotional, spiritual. It touches everything. I am worn down, threadbare. The phase of clinging to a shred of hope or trying to remain positive has passed me.
