✳️ Forever Notes method for a tagging system
by owl · 25 things on Twos
- Object Tags
- What the note is (#document, #recipe, #booknote )
- Area Tags
- Life domain, or hub. Consistent responsibilities and tasks. ( #health, #finance, #family, #work )
- Detail Tags
- add extra layers of details that make searching easier and precise ( #cold #hot #italian #asian
- Status Tags
- status of notes, all about action and progress ( #inprogress #done #toDo )
- Forever Notes
- Supertag, to organize the entire system. System Notes like the Home note, Hubs, or Journal ( #forevernotes ) for Core elements only.
- Every note should have at least one tag, but the more tags, the more specific and searchable — however, too many tags brings clutter (both visual and cognitive)
- Tags note optional, to see a bank of tags.
- IN ACTION: ask yourself
- What type of note is this? - Object
- Which part of my life does this relate to? - Area
- What details can help me find this note later? - Detail
- What’s the current state of this note? - Status
- Is this a core part of my system? - Forever Note
- HOW CAN THIS BE ADAPTED TO UPNOTE AND TWOS?
- UPNOTE:
- Should write to devs about making tags appear at the top, for at-a-glance information in the notes list as well as the notes themselves. Was previously using an "object/“ system but it’s sometimes a bit more maintenance than i like.
- otherwise, adding the tags is simple enough, one at a time. just wish the bulk-adding did what i mentioned above.
