Deep Reading
by johnataylor · 15 things on Twos
- Deep reading refers to an intentional, immersive, and analytical approach to engaging with a text. It goes beyond surface-level comprehension, encouraging readers to explore deeper meanings, make connections, and critically analyze content. This practice involves several cognitive processes, including inferential reasoning, reflection, empathy, and critical thinking. It contrasts sharply with skimming or shallow reading, which prioritizes speed over depth.
