- Pre-run thoughts:
- I ate a bagel with jelly before getting ready and heading to the lounge to chill with the boys before the meet. Drank some coffee then got on the bus to head out for the tempo.
- How fast did you go: 6:39 per mile for warmup, 5:04 per mile for tempo, 6:48 per mile for cooldown
- How far did you run: 2 mile WU, 7 mile tempo, 1 mile CD plus running around to watch races
- Specifics: Tempo workout while most of the other guys race.
- Post-run thoughts:
- I felt pretty good on the workout! That's faster than I've been going and I felt good. That route wasn't the easiest either, and the footing wasn't great. It was super fun sprinting around Rim Rock watching the boys and girls race! Both groups did well, and the boys completely smoked K-State which you love to see. Tanner Newkirk looked really good for the win, and I can't wait to see him races the rest of this year! Our team is good and I'm excited to show everyone. The girls did well too and were pretty close to beating K-State, but Lona, our fastest girl, didn't race, so once we add her in they will be way better than the past. Kenadi did awesome to get second, and Addie did super well as well! I'm super excited for them to have a good year too!
- Nutrition and recovery after: I chugged water and had a little snack after running since we went straight to the meet after the workout. I was pretty hungry and tired after it all, but I went out to lunch with my parents and Kenadi and her family for Mexican food, which was good. Then I took a nap after getting food from Hyvee for our team cookout later.
- End of day reflection:
- It was a great day! I had a good workout which is a great start to the day, then the squad had a good meet, which is an awesome way to start the season! I got to see my parents too and Kenadi's family which was fun! the team poster came out today at the meet, so it was super cool to see it, and I think it turned out really good! I had to go with my mom to get a bunch after the meet haha. The cookout was fun and a bunch of people came! Our team is really big this year, and I'm glad so many people came! A lot of parents came too which was great! We'll have a bit to clean up tomorrow, but that's ok cause I'm just really tired right now, but tomorrow will be a pretty busy day too.
