#Tags 🏷️ that work for me
by mitchel · 24 things on Twos
- My intention is to keep this as simple as possible to maintain for longer term. I noticed that when too much organising is needed, I fall of the wagon of using the tool.
- Keeping in mind that “Twos Search Function” would cover most of searching for *things*. (I write *things* in a way that serves my future self, I do my best guess on the words I may search for in the future - sort of creating my “Personal Google”.)
- Use Tagging for context to tie *things* together from various places. [Source: BASB]
- All the effort of organising as best we can is to serve our future self - 10 minutes later, 10 hours later, 10 years later…
- Especially if I want to keep *things* in my “Today Date” view — these are some tags that work most naturally for my brain and have been helpful for me:
- #30s-reflection (for stuff I learned after meeting someone, experiencing an event, a flash of insight.)
- #people (someone I want to follow - website, blogs, or have been mentioned)
- #contacts (someone I’ve met in person or communicated with for life/work)
- #todo1 (High impact tasks)
- #todo3 (Low impact tasks)
- In case you are wondering, there is no #todo2 because the task is either High or Low. The rest are already captured as [ task ] which I will review periodically.
- #life-admin (Important, not urgent @home)
- #work-admin (Important, not urgent @work)
- #publish-ideas (content I think that would be useful for others)
- #book (I may not want to spend time organising all book recommendations into my “Master Book list”, using this tag allows me to pull all the book mentions in one view.)
- #readinglog (hat tip to @ReneeShupe who uses this to track her daily reading, mostly books. She adds: Book read, Pages Read, Total Pages Read in her “Today”.)
- #word (I’m learning new words daily to improve vocabulary, also I use this to tag words I’ve come across that I need to learn.)
- #inspiring (*things* I want to revisit when I feel down)
- #interesting (facts that stood out)
- #twos-feedback (sharing thoughtful feedback with Twos Team)
- #commonplace (curated content)
- Bonus Tip: To differentiate between a capture that is external and my personal views or thoughts about a *thing*, I add #mitchel (in your case, #YourName) in the text so my future self won’t get confused by who said what. (For eg: “I” could mean many things 10 years from now, is it my voice or the author’s voice?)
- Please share with me what works for you, always very happy to learn and grow better! ✌️😊
