- "Our mission with Bento is to help you do less, but more meaningful tasks."
- 🤲🏽 Our Core Beliefs
- Bento isn't just an app, it's a methodology
- Bento helps you do less, but more meaningful tasks
- Our mission is to reduce task overwhelm to maximise achievement
- Bento doesn't replace your to-do/project management apps - it complements them
- 🍱 The Bento Principles
- Pack
- We all have plenty of to-dos on our list.
- With the Bento Method, you're forced to prioritise 3 tasks as your limit.
- Choose from 3 tasks to pack your Bento:
- 🥗SMALL for an easy win - this could be an administrative task or personal wellbeing time.
- 🍚 MEDIUM for tasks with a medium level of energy and focus, but not all your attention.
- 🍣 LARGE for tasks with a need for deep focus — that means as little distraction as possible including meetings.
- Flow
- Once you have 3 tasks to work on per Bento box, time to pick which order you'd like to work on them in.
- Choose from 3 workflow approaches:
- 🐸 EAT THAT FROG is taken from the classic productivity book of the same name by Brian Tracey - with this workflow, you focus on your most important task first (🍣 large) move onto (🍚 medium) and finishing with your (🥗 small).
- 🗻 CLIMB THE SUMMIT is a balanced approach to your day. You begin your day with a medium-energy task, (🍚 medium) moving to the biggest task (🍣 large) and finishing with your (🥗 small) task.
- 🏃🏼 SLOW BURN is perfect for slow-starters to the day. You begin with your smallest task (🥗 small), and then move onto a more demanding task (🍚 medium), gradually working your way towards (🍣 large) - great for afternoons.
- 💡TIP: We'd recommend (🐸 Eat That Frog) is you like to get things done first thing - alternatively if you had a late night we'd recommend using (🏃🏼 Slow Burn) - as you can see, this is adaptable.
- Focus
- Use these philosophies for better focused sessions:
- 🎯 One-Task Mind
- Blocking out attention to focus on just your key task
- Entering a state of "Deep Work" will help you accomplish more
- Avoid context switching whilst in a focus state on one-task
- ⏰ Suggested Criteria
- These are our recommendations for best practice with Bento.
- You could consider time, energy and context when allocating these.
- 🥗 SMALL
- Focus: Light, habitual
- Timings: 15-30 minutes
- Context: Administrative or wellbeing
- Example: Clear emails, yoga session, file documents
- 🍚 MEDIUM
- Focus: Balanced, analytical
- Timings: 45-60 minutes
- Context: Project-orientated, incoming, process-based
- Example: Email campaign, schedule social media, finish presentation
- 🍣 LARGE
- Focus: Creative, intense
- Timings: 90+ minutes
- Context: Deliverable-oriented
- Example: Write report, edit video, project deliverable
- 🌿 Applying Bento
- There are a few alternate ways you could use your Bento box
- 📅 WEEK - Plan your full week with 5 or 7 boxes
- 🥅 GOALS - Plan your week, month, year goals with 3 boxes
- ☀️ STINTS - Plan your morning, afternoon and evening with 3 boxes
- Our recommendation is to use Bento to plan your first week and adapt your criteria to meet your needs.
- You can also use the Bento Methodology alongside other applications and tools too.
- 💡 TIP: Start a countdown timer for the suggested completion time and focus in by culling any distractions
