How I organize my life in one app (not Notion)

- Why it's needed
- Our world is complex.
- We have so much to remember and keep track of.
- There are many of apps to help us stay organized, but the complex ones take up too much time and energy so they're hard to stick with, and the simple ones only helps us with one type of thing forcing us to spread our information across many systems.
- This leaves us jotting things down on paper which is easily lost or texting and emailing ourselves things that are often forgotten.
- I've been a software developer at Google, Qualcomm, a tech start-up, and for over 6 years I've used this app to stay organized, be thoughtful, and be productive.
- What's the app?
- First off, the app is called Twos, the name stands for the two sides of the platform. The private side to journal, make lists, track events and to-dos, and the public side to collaborate, share, and learn with others.
- Twos is available for free on your computer at TwosApp.com and on the go on iOS and Android by searching Twos.
- The main purpose of Twos is to write things down.
- Whenever I have anything I want to remember or even think through, I write it in Twos.
- Using days
- Every day, Twos opens to a blank day to write things down similar to a journal or calendar.
- This is where I'll journal, write down things I want to do like meditate, or even brainstorm and think through a new project at work.
- I use Today every morning plan out my day, the things I want to get done, I can reorder or move things around. If I'm not going to get to something I can select it and move it to tomorrow or different day.
- Unfinished to-dos can be automatically carried over each day.
- I connect my calendar to see my appointments and events at the top of each day so I can quickly join a meeting and even add new things to my calendar without needing to use the calendar app.
- You can also set reminders with your natural language. For example, if I learned my friend Mike wanted to get lunch at 1 pmon Friday, I can just write down "Lunch with Mike on friday at 1 pm" and twos will automatically detect the reminder, add it to my calendar, and it will show up on my day on Friday. That's a useful feature for birthdays and repeating reminders.
- Using lists
- Twos also has lists. Lists are a way of organizing related things.
- I have lists for every meeting I've had, books I read, blogs I've written, movies I've seen, projects for work, a bucket list, my grocery list, goal lists, even lists for important people in my life.
- If I'm every feeling overwhelmed or confused, I'll create a new list, get my priorities in order and begin again.
- Lists are a simple way to gain clarity, stay organized and remember things.
- Lists and even things can be quick found with search and you can collaborate on lists with family, friends, and co-workers. You can share a list as plain text or as a link which can be accessed by anyone even if they don't use Twos.
- Wrap up
- That's about it, Twos is my all-in-one solution to being organized, thoughtful, and productive.
- I use it to write, remember, and share anything. It's available wherever you are, it's free, and it's a super simple, yet effective tool to clear your mind and be more present throughout your life.
- All you need to do is write things down.
