9. How to Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half

- "A bargain ain't a bargain if it's not something you need" -Sidney Carroll
- It is possible to cut your grocery bill in half even though you are not an extreme couponer
- Shop the sales!
- While traditional grocery chains often have the highest price overall, they also usually have the best sales, particularly on name-brand items.
- The best way to make sure you are always buying your food at its lowest possible price is to maintain an ongoing "rock bottom price list" to keep track of the best prices for the items that you buy.
- Try to figure out how often an item you buy goes on sale. Once you figure out the pattern, stockpile that item when it hits rock bottom and have enough until the next time it goes on sale again.
- Coupons come last! Don't buy something just because you have a coupon for it. Wait for the sale and THEN use the coupon.
- The bulk of your savings will come from shopping the sales, stockpiling, and meal planning -- not from the coupons.
