Unemployment Rate

- I was wondering this morning about all the job openings in Henderson County, so I looked up the unemployment rate. For the Tyler area, we're at 4.6 percent.
- That's low. In fact, according to the Texas Workforce Commission, the state set a new high for the number of non-farm employment in September with more than 13.5 million jobs.
- That's the 11th straight month Texas has set an employment record.
- “More people in Texas are working today than ever before. In fact, more people in Texas are working than the entire population of the state of Pennsylvania,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez.
- It seems the truth is there are more jobs than workers in Texas right now. That's something I am going to try and remember the next time I have to wait an extra 10 minutes because one of my face places is understaffed at the moment.
