- What is your useful takeaway? Or human connection? Which is missing?
- Knowing your audience will give you ideas for hooks, intros, and conclusions.
- Remember to use strategic tags.
- It's digital writing ... you can still revise! Revise one more time to get the Revision badge!
- Think about hierarchy. What does your formatting and headings say about the organization of your information?
- When linking to sources, type out the source information ... then hyperlink. Don't paste the full link into the editor, unless you are embedding.
- Don't use "..." to break up sections. Using headings instead. Usually "..." is to signify the end of something or a move to an entirely different part ... like a small call to action or description of the author.
- We generally don't start of with a heading. You want to make sure your hook is the first thing someone reads. Using 1/3/1 organization can help with this.
- In general, if you only have one paragraph under a heading, you probably don't need a section ... or a section needs to be developed more (or paragraphs split).
- Using second person (you) in a digital essay is a great way to engage your readers. But be sure to think about who "you" is and set it up in your introduction. Randomly addressing your audience in the middle of an essay can be confusing.
