- יְהוָה - The LORD
- Jehovah (Yᵊhōvâ - yeh-ho-vaw') = the existing One
Is said to also mean the "Impassioned one because of His love and jealousy for His people. This would seem to explain why He is known as a Jealous God (Exodus 20:5; 34:14; Deuteronomy 4:24; 5:9; 6:15; Joshua 24:19; Nahum 1:2) and why the Scriptures also use the analogy of Him as the husband of His people of whom He is jealous of them because of their idolatry (cf. Proverbs 6:29-35).

- Adonai ('āḏôn - aw-done') = master, sir, ruler, king, superintendent of household or of affairs, My Foundation
- Contrast Baal (baʿal - bah'-al) = lord, supreme male divinity of the Phoenicians or Canaanites
