07/11/2022 - Convo with Dave about Product
by Joe · 44 things on Twos
- How the convo started: "Hey Joe, do you have a minute? I met with the TBV guys for dinner and have some thoughts for you..."
- "By the way I said I love what you guys are doing and it seems like Andreas is very much on board..."
- Need a product manager, the messaging needs to be more goal oriented
- Nobody cares about Twos, all they care about is exactly what they are getting and what the benefit is
- "I don't know what the coins are"
- "And how do I try the call someone you love"
- JOE NOTE: since he had already done the onboarding, it immediately jumped to the next step. Which I explained, still needs to be more personalized from what he mentioned.
- "I think it should be...
- create a reminder, create a task, if I do one, then I'll start to get hooked"
- "Never focus on who we are, focus on the problems in the market and how Twos fixes them. Using specific examples, build a story brand."
- Dave to TBV - "The founder dynamic is 10/10 - but where they are lacking is the product side. I have missed out on investments because they didn't have a product person for them to become a $1B App"
- Look at the data of what they want to do
- Pathways of what they are choosing to help us make decisions
- We need to find product-market fit with one of these things and then make the rest of Twos more visible
- "When I see A.I and ML I gloss it over"
- You can bake it into conversation with investors. But it's over played.
- When you have a developer without a product person, you over-develop without a whole lot of thoughtfulness
- In regards to other thoughts from the TBV conversations... "No major red flags - but they are certainly slow"
- "I used FOMO with them early and often"
- MUST EXPLAIN THE VALUE OF COINS - I don't care about them and I certainly did not understand the point.
- Ask why 5 times of each feature you're building
- Customer discovery and product discovery calls are different
- I've looked at [Twos] message 10 times and never taken an action
- "I know what you're trying to solve, and I want it solved, but I have not found that solution with Twos"
- "It needs to ask you, what do you want to see, or what problem are you trying to solve?"
- Host a 30 minute session at Embarc where we get raw and unfiltered feedback
- Bucket of beers, this screen does this, this screen does this,
- ...and 500 can become 1500 if you figure it out
- I love that it is tapped into my calendar, I would love it if it reminded me 2 minutes early.
- We shouldn't be building anything new, for 30 days work on the product
- "Why did you download this?"
- I have no great way of doing this
- "So what is the result?"
- I get disorganized and chaotic
- "So we expose that problem and bake it into our messaging"
- You just need to be close to your users
- Need to constantly talk to them
- This is the screen that they see when they log back in
- Very important because maybe they are giving it another try but now have no onboarding, no idea of what to do.
- 100% private, 100% social = Twos (not half-private, half-social - that makes one)
- Likes the idea of social
- "There is a relationship between data privacy and collaboration that needs to be better"
- Pre-social, first we have to build the best place for people to write things down
- Make them do something within the app and see the value of that
