Parker and Joe met in Austin, Texas while working for a startup called Trustwork. Parker was the fourth engineer hired by Trustwork and Joe was participating in their business boot camp. Joe was an intern at a car dealership after his freshman year of college with the only responsibility of shadowing and learning the ropes. About a week later, a woman approached Joe to ask a question about a vehicle on the floor and Joe made his first sale. He then requested to no longer be an intern with a guaranteed hourly rate, but to be a sales representative and sold 33 cars in 3 months as a 19-year-old.
