Initial Meeting with Mark Begert
by Joe · 33 things on Twos
- Do not assume how people will use Twos - figure out how they are using it most and focus on that pain point
- Accelerators, Investors, and anyone we are looking to give us money or experience will always ask 'If we're talking to the customer'
- Even if we only have 10 users, we need to talk to 50% of them to figure out how they are using it, if it is scalable, and making the app better serve what people are currently using it for.
- Use things like survey monkey to ask people what their biggest problem is and design marketing around that pain point
- For example: if a majority of people tell us that they need a quick place to write grocery items down, then create marketing/messaging around that
- If people need a quick place to write people's names, stick to that and get people to download based on the specific needs THAT THEY TELL US.
- Type Form ready to be sent 7/5/21
- 'Do not try to boil the ocean'
- Can not use the subheading of "The best place to write things down" because it is too vast and not specific.
- Did not see us communicating the message of spreading peace and love with Twos
- Instead, thought our brand was communicating quick and easy. Especially based on the name Twos. It is quick and easy.
- Had a GREAT idea for deriving Twos into 'Two seconds'. When people need to write something down quickly they say "Just give me two seconds" and hold up the peace sign.
- As far as building a revenue model he also had great insight.
- He mentioned that SaaS software is sold now from the bottom up. People use products that do ONE thing that is free and better than any product currently available.
- For example Slack was used by developers for the channels, and then bellowed up the company to the stakeholders because they used slack for pinging, channels and liked the way it was better than instant messaging.
- Normally those features are products are used by developers or people who are specifically open to new products, features, and using your service.
- That feature and usage of the app spread like wildfire amongst the people that use it at the bottom level until they start telling their higher-ups about the product, which then gets the attention of the managers or people that have money to spend in the organization
- Then we can build features that show people all the other things they can do with Twos that have a premium associated. Whether that be a subscription option or buying the features little by little.
- Made a Twos Pro features list to charge $3.99 - $9.99 to have once our customer base grows
- Mark recommends we apply to The Capital Factory for the network and ability to use their space around other like-minded people who can help us fill the gap of what we need help with
- Offered to be a warm introduction
- ✓ Send Mark a follow up email
- Mark said that he himself struggles a lot with remembering things and does not like using his text messages as a list of what he needs to rememeber
- So if he had a place to quickly write things down, that was organized top to bottom of the most recent things he's written, it may solve a problem he is currently facing
- For example: remembering the names of the parents on his kids soccer team while also remembering the things his wife needs him to pick up from the store
- Twos: the best grocery list app
- Twos: remember names
- Twos: {insert actual problem we are solving here}
- and then people will figure out the other uses they get from Twos to become a 'power user'
- Did not see the value of some of the things that I use Twos for, since I am a power user and since I am not our customer
- Do not assume that we are using the app in the best way - let people figure out how they want to use it and make THAT the best way to use Twos.
- Be the guide
- Twos: organize your shit
