- Your business is nothing more than a distinct reflection of who you are
- True trust comes from knowing, not from blind faith. To know, one must understand. And to understand, one must have an intimate awareness of what conditions are truly present. What people know and what they don't What people do and what they don't. What people want and what they don't. How people do what they do and how people don't. Who people are and who they aren't.
- The key is to plan, envision, and articulate what you see in the future both for yourself and for your employees. If you don't write it down, clearly, so others can understand it, you don't own it
- Any plan is better than no plan
- Ask "How must the business work?" rather than "What work has to be done?"
- See the business as a system for producing outside results for the customer resulting in profits
- Without a clear picture of the customer, no business can succeed
- Your business is not your life
- Your business is something apart from you, rather than a part of you, with its own rules and its own purposes. An organism that will live or die according to how well it performs its sole function: to find and keep customers
- Unless your customer gets everything he wants every single time, he'll go someplace else to get it
- What do you wish your life to look like?
- What would you like to be doing two years from now? Ten years from now? Twenty years from now? When your life comes to a close?
- How much money do you need in order to be independent of work, to be free?
- There is ultimately only one reason to create a business of your own, and that is to sell it
- The work we do is a reflection of who we are
- The customer is not always right, but whether he is or not, it is our job to make him feel that way
- Work toward being the best you can possibly be at the tasks you are accountable for. If you can't do that, act like you are until you get around to it. If you are unwilling to act like it, you should leave
- Will applied to any conflict creates energy
- The purpose of a system is to free you too do the things you want to do
- Freedom is the power to mold and create ourselves. To become what we truly are
- Comfort makes cowards of us all
- The world's not in chaos; we are. The world's apparent chaos is only a reflection of our own inner turmoil
- When you hear something, you forget it. When you see something, you remember it. But not until you do something will you understand it
